| Whenever I see an alternate intro to an old cartoon on youtube I'm surprised by the comments posted by other viewers. Some of the alt-intros are just reworked weekday promos. Anyway, there was a time when networks aired promos for Saturday morning cartoons all day - Mon.thru Fri. Here is my post from Memory Lane: I never registered with youtube. I still don't have a youtube account. If I did I would post a comment to let everyone know that this alternate "Herculoids Intro" is from the second season of the show. Although CBS was pleased with the show, the original 1967 intro music was tagged as "too creepy". Season 2 used the music (lighter, more upbeat) from the Season 1 commercial network promos for the show that ran weekdays (Mon - Fri) on most CBS affiliate stations. The Season 2 intro music was the instrumental remake of the 1967 promo ad - minus the lyrics. Yes, I remember the lyrics too. I could type them here, but I would rather sing it. I'm guessing the network guys wanted the Herculoids intro to be as much fun as the weekday promos. Plus this gave Hanna-Barbera a chance to jazz-up the intro graphics. Compared to other 1967 cartoons, The Herculoids was more "laid-back" in the action department. The reformatted 1968 Herculoids intro on youtube: (this clip cuts the intro short, leaving out the musical crescendo ending) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kcYxolQK5k&feature=related ![]() |
