I couldn't believe it. Back in April of this year a group called the Easy Star All Stars did a reggae revision, or dub, of the Beatles' classic Sgt. Pepper's L.H.C.B. album.

This sounds like a bad idea to me. But I could be wrong.

Take a listen to "Within You Without You" by Matisyahu, a New York Hasidic Jew who plays dub with the All Stars:

Or how about "A Day In The Life" dub by Michael Rose and Menny More:

Takes a lot of guts to take on an album like Pepper. Not bad.

Yeah, it's a fact that Beatles material is "not for messin' with"!

Like that 3rd rail - touch a Beatles song, you die.

But omg, this stuff ain't bad!!!! The Easy Stars All Stars got guts.

Yeah, it's worth giving a chance. some of the songs seem to slow, but the reggae vibe is definately cool.

YES, that's what I think too. Some of the songs are paced too slow and I think the echo effect is too heavy on a few songs. Otherwise I'm surprised at the result. Nice take on songs we all know so well.
