Never really watched this show. I hear it's based on Asian and Inuit cultures. Seems for the live action film most of the actors will be white. Some people are calling the director racist for this.

i can understand why they'd use white characters. one reason, the characters' eyes are more open. sooo...yeah...

but in any case, we can also call the DB movie cast racist.

I find that a terrible reason. If the characters are supposed to be Asian, then get Asian actors and actresses to make it accurate. I find it incredibly stupid that they're casting white people for Asian roles.

I don't see how. All of the characters are "Asian", to my knowledge and I think all of the actors portraying the roles are Asian or of Asian descent, except for Goku's actor, and with Goku, his character is an alien anyway. The name Goku was given to him. There's no evidence that his character is even supposed to be of Asian descent.

Now, if going by the actual legend DB is based on, then it'd probably be "inaccurate".

What if the characters were African Americans and they made them all white? Would you consider that in any way racist?

No, just unnecessary, pointless, and inaccurate. I'd find it offensive (just like with the casting of whites for Avatar) in the sense that, apparently, being any other race in a movie is bad. I'm sure that's not the intention, but it can be perceived that way.

i dont know. it makes me think about why Samuel L. Jackson is playing General Nick Fury, when Fury was originally white, then turned black in later incarnations...hmmm...

Good answer, but I would consider it prejudice if not racist at least. In any case I can't see the reason why people can't watch people of other races in films. In any case I won't be watching this and I bet this may have a negative impact on the movies gross as well. I think fans of any ip want other media based off it to be as close as possible.

I think it has more to do with them not being able to create good black characters so it's easier to take an existing character and make the black. Just my to cents. However I would rather that they had kept the character his original race and just make cool minority characters.
