What if the assault laws didn't exist? Meaning if someone pissed you off you could hit them without fear of going to jail so long as you didn't cause permanent injury.
I think people would think twice before they disrespected someone and people would lose that cocky little attitude they get. Think about it people can be pretty brave when they know things will not get too out of hand. Imagine being able to beat the piss out of that guy at work that ran and told your boss what you said about them. Or how about giving the neighbor a pounding that keeps playing loud music late at night and told you to F off when you politely asked them to turn it down? There would be nothing legal they could do about it other than fight back.
Of course this would cause some people to be victims of being bullied, but I know I would stand up for those that couldn't defend themselves.
