This is no lie! Lite a match and drop it into a glass of water and chug it down.(don't swallow the match) The sulfer from the burned out match will stop your hiccups.

For hiccups i just held my breath and that almost always worked.

But for What I call Kanker sores (those sores you get inside your mouth kinda like Cold sores), I held my lip out an dput salt directly in the sore. It stings a lot but after it stops hurting as much, which took about a minute, you just like it off and go to bed and the sore would pretty much be gone in the morning. :)

i usually gargle salt water- i can't take that sorta pain- but in any case it does'nt work for me. i constantly get canker sores, especially if i bite my lip. i usually have them for about 3 weeks. i have one right now in fact, but it's healing. :(

how bout this cure-vinegar and pepper soaked cottonball for earaches? any one ever tried that? my friends grandma used this one-i dont know if it ever worked though.

Seriously though the salt directly on the sore really helps if you do it just after you brush your teeth and then go to bed. In the morning it's almost completely gone or is at least a lot better.

It's always worked for me. Of course it hurts a lot, but it's worth saving yourself possibly weeks of haveing that thing in your mouth.

I've heard blowing smoke in someone's ear can get rid of an earache.
Also if you put urine in the ear for an earache.
It's OK, next time I'll make you listen. I wish that it were in the power of all children to say that to their parents and to know that indeed they would be heard as we were in those wonderful days on Waltons Mountain.Narrator The Waltons (From the Runawa

I put warm olive oil in my ears for earaches...it seems to work but you get an oily ear for a bit.

    Well...

    You could either drink water.
    Or hold your breath.
Or get scared (Hey Dude, anyone?)

Those were the three most commonly-suggested miracle cures for the hiccups growing up...

for an ant sting , get some rotten mud, the kind you find on a stale pond and put some of it on the sting, it works very well.

For a bee sting make a paste of baking soda and water and put in on and it will draw out the stinger. For hiccups I was told you tickle the roof of your mouth with your tounge, works-sometimes.

For mosquito bites I was told to heat up a tortilla on the stove for a few seconds and then put in on the bite. It actually gets rid of the itching. :P

I used to do something similar.....I'd light a lighter and hold it sideways so the metal tip would heat up, and then I'd stick it on the bite. Sure, it burnt like hell, but no more itching?
