    In the world before Monkey, primal chaos reigned. Heaven sought order, but the phoenix can fly only when it's feathers are grown. The four worlds formed again and yet again, as endless aeons wheeled and passed. Time and the pure essences of Heaven all worked upon a certain rock, old as creation. It became magically fertile. The first egg was named "Thought".

    Tathagata Buddha, the Father Buddha said "With our thoughts, we make the world." Elemental forces caused the egg to hatch. From it came a stone monkey.

    The nature of monkey was irrepressible!!

    See, I don't think that twat captures the irrepressible essence of the Monkey King I grew up with. The Monkey I loved was the punkiest monkey that ever popped. He knew every magic trick under the sun to tease the gods and everyone and have some fun.

    It's quite cheap in Australia. If you have a multi-region DVD player maybe you can get it on eBay or something.

    		 I've tried reading the books, but have a hard time getting into them. The new Monkey King show in Japan is okay, but more of a comedy. I liked Stephen Chow's take on the Monkey King. It was way better than Forbidden Kingdom.
