You can't fix what's not broken. Look at the incredibly shitty travesty that happened when when George Lucas wanted to "update" the classic Star Wars films. It's not always good. Most of the time it's done for the sole purpose of gaining an extra buck, not for the good of the brand and it shows in a shitty sub-par version.

I'm asking what's the point of remaking old toys especially when they're not Gobots at all? I'm thinking Hasbro wasted their money buying out Tonka, and thus eliminating their competition, when they could have found new and more exciting ways to use the name they already owned. Not to say that the last line, Transformers Cybertron, didn't have their share of exciting toys. But Hasbro is a frickin monopoly already. I don't see what the point was that they bought out Tonka?

Deleted 4 years 7 months ago Posts: 54340	Hasbro bought out Kenner, which owned Tonka. So buying Kenner they got Tonka in the deal. They didn't go out of their way to buy Tonka. Kenner was slowly going bankrupt and the shareholders put the business up for sale. It was just a business opportunity. Thats all. Plus, it saved the Star Wars toyline from vanishing. Hasbro started producing new figures in 1995 under the Kenner brand.
