I was shopping yesterday to buy my niece something and found my favorite Care Bear (Good Luck Bear ) is no longer the only green bear,...now theres...oopsy bear...wtf? :?

And these Fur-Berries that are popples, but they look like fruit....this is crap! :x

Do they really need to recycle toys in an attempt to improve on the original? I think this destroys genuine 80s toys because they are blurred with remakes. What do you think?

Yeah. All they really have to do with the old toys is just give them a little make-over. Like a better fur body or something. Other than that, they should just leave them alone and not change the names.

I don't like what Hasbro did to the Gobots a few years ago.

They went from something that was very meaningful to me like this:

To not even worth mentioning like this

Racerbot? Strongbot? Copbot?! What the fuck is that?

I always hated Gobots. They were the bobo version of Transformers.

What do mean? It was the other way around. Gobots came out in 1983, a whole year before the Transformers did, so if anything the Transformers were the rip offs and the Gobots were the real thing.

It doesn't matter who came out first. I never said one ripped off the other. I said Gobots were the "bobo", or crappy version. It's all about quality, and Transformers set the mark.

Transformers started in 1980 in Japan as Diaclone. GoBots are the ripoff and the K-Mart Transformer.

Not in your original comment you didn't. You said "I always hated Gobots. They were the bobo version of Transformers." How in the hell am I supposed to know what the hell bobo even means unless you explain it to me?

You must own stock in Gobots or something. I didn't define "bobo" in my first post because I didn't have a clue that anyone would care that much about the subject to begin with. Still, no matter how you read the first post, even without the def. of the made up word "bobo", no one should have come close to pulling out that I was saying Gobots ripped off Transformers.
It really doesn't matter though. Gobots should never have achieved this much chatter anyway. We will leave this on the simple fact that I, and 90% of those who grew up with them, hate Gobots, and you love them. Cool.

Well, The name of the thread is "Toy Rip Offs" not "Which Toy Was Crappier?"
I said what was on my mind and I make no appologies for it. My opinion is I'd rather have old Gobots over the new Go-Bots any day.
And I did ask "what do you mean?" In my response so that should have been a first clue that I didn't know what bobo meant.

Well, it's easy to imagine that anyone who doesn't feel a pang of nostalgia when seeing that old Cy-kill would probably see it as an utter piece of shit. I mean look at it for chrissake, he "transforms" by just standing on end basically. I loved Gobots as a kid but even i think they were crappy toys.

Barbie and The Rockers were a rip-off of the Jem dolls.
Garfield: "My car is so old, that it's insured against theft, flood, fire and dinosaur stampedes!"

Garfield: "The local bus transit is doing their part to help with the weight loss program: each year, they stop further and further away from the curb!

That's why I come here. I watch all of these old toy commercials with all of the nostalgia I can find. I did a search on Google and they came up with that shit that Hasbro tried to pass off as Gobots.
I like the nostalgia of the old toys and the old TV show. Sure the toys fell apart and the TV show lasted only a year but I consider myself to be a Gobots purist. Which means I like the old toys and the old TV show. I don't see that there's anything wrong with liking old things.
Don't get me wrong. I like Transformers but Gobots were the first transforming toy to come into our house and NO we weren't dirt ass poor but we did live within our means.

When Hasbro bought Tonka, they also bought the rights to the name Gobots.

I know that. But a few years ago they made these cheap ass plastic toys for the line and called them "Go-Bots" and to me those aren't Gobots. They weren't even fit to have the Go-Bots name.

Hey. Just take note that I wasn't the one who started this conversation up again. I'm just stating my opinion on the record.
