that lives on a river and when she cast her spells she said the words backwards? For an example she used the word "GORF" for frog. That's pretty much all I remember. I've been searching for years trying to find this out.

I remember a cartoon with a witch who says "GORF" and turns kids into frogs, but I cannot for the life of me remember the title. Wikipedia is no help. It had weird animation like in CDi Zelda games. I saw it in the early 80's and I think it was made in the 70's. I think it was similar vintage to Really Rosie.

The closest thing I can find is Wayside. There is a Mrs. Gorf. Mrs. Gorf has the ability to turn students into apples (by wiggling her ears and sticking out her tongue), cows into pumpkins, Myron into a potato, and Fluffy into a pineapple. Mrs. Gorf's name spelled backwards is "Frog." And one kid has a pet frog named Yogurt.

That definitely ain't it. That looks nothing like it. I must have seen it no later than 1984.

Did the witch snap her fingers before she would speak the spell? And did her words appear spelled out on the screen as they left her mouth? I remember the cartoon, if this is the one you're referring to. The witch would keep repeating variations on "frog" like "gorf" and "grof" and "forg". The child-turned-frog kept telling her that she was getting it wrong until she finally said "frog." I think I saw this one on public television back in the 70's. I've looked for it online, but I haven't found it.
