He was the inspiration for Solid Snake from Metal Gear but don't let that put you off.

Snake's hobbies include flying gliders into New York city and hanging on hang-gliders. He also saved the U.S. President and played the part of Kurt Russel in Big Trouble in Litle China (citation needed).

I allways thought it was more for Big boss then solid snake because of the eye patch.

Well Kojima Hideo is a big fan of Escape from new York so that could be the case. But in particular reference to Solid Snake he shares the same name and he is the lone individual being sent in to do the job with any item he can find. In Sons of Liberty Snake even uses the alias of Iroquois Pliskin - its a sort of nod to Snake Pliskin.

Also, in MGS4 Snake does have an eye patch but his face is modelled after Lee Van Cleef who played the Police Commissioner issuing orders to Snake Pliskin in Escape from New York.

Both the escape movies were great, and I'm a huge fan of the metal gear series of games.

    TOTAL BADASS!!!

This guy was way ahead of his time and I heard Gerard Butler was taking over from Kurt Russell to play this iconic hero. dunno how far things has gone or maybe its safer to just leave it alone.

People just never let things be.
There doesn't have to be a remake. Snake was perfect how he was. And Kurt Russell is the shit.
    Oh yeah?

Kurt Russell FUCKING RULES! Snake is utterly badass. Stuntman Mike was also cool as fuck in Deathproof/Grindhouse.

I own both Escape movies. I have 2 dvd versions of NY, 1 dvd and 1 vhs version of LA.

I'm also working my way through MGS for the first time too.
