I can honestly say I have never owned a single thing from either DSE or Tandy's. When I was a kid they just had crappy hobby or science related 'toys' (hobby is codeword for 'only albino kids who live with their grandmothers are into this crap';), and now as an adult I have zero interest in the kind of overpriced gadgets that is their stock in trade.

I remember going there with my dad a fair bit back when the Commodoe64 was the top of the line in "home computers". They always had chemistry sets and massive Meccano robots that you could program and shit for $500. They also had those White lightning ball things and a robot who looked like Robby the Robot from "Now You See It".

Have you seen "It's Academic"? They always have some kid whose special topic is Star Wars or LOTR or something, and then when he gets asked a question he pretends not to know it so that he can seem cool.

And then they ask them bs questions like 'What's 11 x 3?'

Hell, if they can bring back Gladiators, they can bring back A*Mazing. And The Miraculous Mellops.

I was too young to notice.

I think when 'What's Up, Doc?' started is when I began noticing the boobies.

I just searched YouTube for The Miraculous Mellops and that ain't the show I remember! The one I liked was on Channel 9 and was about a brother and sister who worked at the Channel 9 studios on a kids puppet show like Sesame Street. The twist was that the puppets were actually aliens and only the kids knew about it. Remember that?

I can't believe someone else actually remembers that show.

It was kind of a cult thing at my high school; everyone used to watch it after school and then ridicule it the next day.

The girl in that show (she of the miraculous melons) was more recently seen in a commercial for (Campbell's?) soup. You know, the one where she's lying about the soup being a family recipe, when she really got it from Safeway for $1.29.

EDIT: No, I'm getting her confused with the girl from another crappy Australian kids' show, 'Fergus McPhail'. I just don't know anymore.

Why do Australian shows have such unappealing and stupid names?

Remember 'Crocadoo'? They promoted the hell out of that, even going so far as to put it on in prime-time as if it were 'event TV'. That show had some of the worst animation I've ever seen.

Australian kids' TV has always seemed to have a kind of flippant gross-out humor that just falls flat. "Well, we can't compete with the budget or talent pool of the United States, so we'll name our new show 'Poos & Wees Incorporated."

America had G.I.Joe. We had Crocadoo. Actually, I think Crocadoo was one of the pioneer shows for flash animation. I can't tell you how proud that makes me.

    CRIKEY! CROCADOO!!!!
