Well, I was playing Pokémon Yellow on my Super Game Boy as I have been lately, and right after catching a Drowzee (to evolve into a Hypno), the power to it goes off. Our SNES has been very sensitive lately, moving it or the power chord in the slightest makes it go off, yet I didn't even touch a thing and the screen just went blank, right before I saved too! So I go to look for a different power chord, in hopes it was the chord causing the problem and not the SNES. So I find one with the Nintendo logo on it, and try to plug it in, however, it doesn't fit and a few sparks come out of the power port! I figured it must've been strictly made for the NES, so I looked around a bit more, and couldn't find another one. So I decide to try and take the risk of using the old plug, despite the fact my save file was at risk... then I can't get it in. I look at the port for it, and the bars inside were mis-aligned! At first I figured this is what was causing the system to go off so easily, but now I couldn't get the thing in at all, and realized that, when I had tried the other chord, it pushed one of the metal prongs upward.
So after this, I just kind of mope around for a while, then remember my RetroDuo which I was using exclusively for import gaming. I went to hook it up, replaced their controllers with my old SNES ones, turn it on... zam! Not only does it work perfectly, but the picture quality is clearer than ever, I'd go as far as to call it hi-def! So, at least for the remainder of the time I live with my parents, the RetroDuo is now my Super Nintendo. Our old one we'd been using since 1991, and it really needed a break... I probably should've stopped using it as soon as we had that power problem, which was for at least a year now. I'm going to keep it for nostalgia, but otherwise, it has now been reduced to a big hunk of plastic.
