It's been overplayed when it was on Boomerang, Cartoon Network, and even when it was on USA Network (yes, I actually remember when Scooby Doo was one of the last Hanna Barbara cartoons to air on the Cartoon Express and I was 5 years old). The plots are repetitive, it's nothing but cheap parlor gags from the haunted house, and I cannot stand Shaggy and Scooby. I'm glad I'm not the only one here who doesn't like it.
While I do agree with you, the old direct-to-VHS movies that they used to put out in the late '90s, like the "Zombie Island" one (which was apparently based on an unproduced SWAT Kats episode, go figure ) and "Witch's Ghost" were pretty good. Unfortunately, I do agree that they overplayed the reruns on Cartoon Network (anyone else remember when they played all the episodes of "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?" in a day back in 1999?), when there were better shows like Looney Toons or Jonny Quest in their library?
I did like The New Scooby Doo Movies the best. Batman and the Scooby gang working on a mystery together was quite a trip to watch |
