I've just been freaked out by "My Little Pony the Movie

I got out the My Little Pony movie the other day and before it starts the whole thing runs backwards, in black and white with weird noises (like someone is rewinding it). I couldn't watch it after that, and I haven't seen it in a really long time, so I mean is this some weird "My Little Pony" tradition I've forgotten about?
