Speedway/Spin-out/Cryptologic for the Odyssey 2. Man, I feel old just by saying that, and I`m a few weeks away from being 23.

    Very first video game? Hmmm.

I'm pretty sure it was Pac Man. I was around 4 or 5. And I sucked at it. I had no hand-eye coordination. If I could eat a power pellet and then eat a ghost, then my day was made. Hell, I used to think the object of the game WAS to eat the ghosts. I didn't know until years later that the goal was to clear the maze of the little dots.

Donkey Kong was probably my next game. Followed by Q-Bert.

I didn't start getting good at video games until I was 9 years old and received my own NES. Then my skill level soared.

I'm not sure. It was on Atari. I want to say Space Invaders, but I'm not sure. I was really young.

It would have been Shooting Gallery on the Atarit 2600. Pong would have been a close second. Space invaders was the first Arcade video game I played.

I don't remember it TOO fondly, but I do think one of my first video games was Space War or Space Invaders for the 2600... Combat was also another, as well as I think Pong...

...I don't know why, but the Space War seems more embedded as my first, and I don't even remember that game well, but I do think I remember getting the game system sometime in early 1981 or late 1980.

Good times! Man, I remember right after the great video game crash in 1984, they had a bargain bin at K-B Toys with a pile of games in the front bin all for $.99. Despite some of them being completely absurd... I remember getting a lot of 'em.

I'd have to say the Mario Bros./Duck Hunt for the NES. I remember spending hours trying to find warp pipes, and trying to find hints in magazines (hard to imagine it being difficult finding cheats now with the internet). I also remember being about 4 or 5 years old and putting the light gun right up against my tv screen to make sure i never missed a duck in Duck Hunt.

First I played Donkey Kong Country on the SNES, then I dug my mom's Atari out of the attic and played Pong, then I bought a NES with a copy of Super Mario Bros. with my allowance.

So, I guess they all count.

I got my first game when I was 6. It was Christmas '94, and my momma bought me a Super Nintendo. Mine came with 2 games-Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World.

    It's wierd, i have 2 possible candidates for 1st ever game played...and bear with me, my memory is a little fuzzy on this;

The first (and most likely) was Space Invaders 5 for the Atari 2600 (i can't be sure though, if it was then i was playing a retro console even then because i was born in 1983 :)). Like i said, very sketchy :D

The second is by far the clearest-remembered and therefore is my considered true '1st game' and was the Mario Brothers and Duckhunt combo cartridge. We even got the lightgun with it and i fondly remember being the best at both games even though i was only 6 or 7 at the time. I even finished Mario Brothers first, and that was with an older brother

Coincidentally, i was the first to complete EVERY game we owned as a family. My hand-eye co-ordination must have been way beyond my years because i never needed much practice before beating everyone :)

Pity my memory isn't up to much though, i can't remember the first SNES game i played :(

The first arcade game though was the first TMNT, and i too remember begging my mum for money to play. I died quick, but still felt strangely satisfied...

I think it was Mario Bros. for the NES because I remember my sister trying to make me learn the 2X Table at the same time as I discovered the secret warp zone on Level 2. It might have been Top Gun though because we got the NES and both of the games for Christmas.
