I got an ATARI from close friends of ours (I think their parents got rid of it cuz they didnt want to warp their 4 children so I guess my folks thought it would be no harm to me :D )

My own first console was the Sega Master System. And boy was that my best friend. My dad had a job transfer back in '87 and I was transplanted to a lil speck in South Carolina called Florence. Borrrrrrrrring! Thank God I only had to live there for a year. No hockey and no snow makes Felix a dull cat!

Honestly the N64 or the first PlayStation. Better games in my opinion. And they were more affordable :(

My first console I would say would have to be the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis back in 1993. As before this I had a C64 computer all through my younger years which don't count as a console. Though I did have my Sega Game Gear back in 1991, so maybe that could be the 1st console, though it would be a handheld one.

The first console I got was Action Max.

The guy at the video store where I got it from insisted I get something better like the Sega Master system, but I thought playing games that were on VHS cassettes and shooting things onscreen would be way better.

Here's how you'd calibrate the gun.

I got 4 games: .38 Ambush Alley, Hydrosub: 2021, The Rescue of Pops Ghostly, and Sonic Fury.

It pretty much became obsolete in my house when I got NES a few months later. :D
