ADULT Times when Nintendo actually DIDN'T do any censorship

Nintendo got a lot of crap when they censored Mortal Kombat...they figured parents would appreciate it, but most just got pissed that Nintendo was trying to be parents to their children or something like that (guess you just can't win either way with some people).

Maniac Mansion was censored at some points. Also i read some article here about Tyson taken out of Punch-out.

That's because he lost a title bout and Nintendo felt that people didn't want to fight a "loser." So they took him out of the game and replaced him with Mr. Dream, who was like Tyson, except he was white. The name was also changed to just plain "Punch-Out!!"

That and they were probably paying a decent amount of money to use his name...since he wasn't the champ anymore, it'd be cheaper to just take him out. This may (I'm not sure though) have also been around the time when he started doing bad stuff.

In all Versions of Ocarina of Time, Nintendo didn't censor anything except possible language. The blood and more importantly the nudity were kept in. I uncerstand Young Ruto being nude, but Adult Ruto crosses the line for child-friendly. It was only because parents complained about Ruto's nudity that they gave her, and ONLY her, a dress to wear. everything else stayed in Majora's Mask. and both games were given an "E" rating by ESRB.

So true! And how about all of those fountain fairies that Link had to find so he could get special magic spells and powers- boy were they scantily dressed! But the blood did not really bug me in that game.

Quite interesting... I just finished reading this article dealing with Nintendos own censorship, explaining [most] things why it seemed... out of proportion.

    http://www.filibustercartoons.com/Nintendo.php

Looking into article, however, what I find funny is the writer fails to mention that their have been moments where Nintendos policy slipped. Weather out of laziness, being sneaky, or technical problems can only be guessed. For example, in it, Nintendo stated how Christian crosses were not permitted by their guidelines. Yet in many games, notably The Legend of Zelda and the Castlevania games still have these intact. And lets not forget the games that Nintendo had no involvement in aka not licensed by them so the programmers were free to add whetever they please. In any case, once the ESRB rating system was founded in the mid-90s, these rules could be relaxed. That's why you see Mortal Kombat IIs blood, gore, etc in it as it came out AFTER the ESRB came in.

The "dress" adult Ruto had was actually a pair of flippers.

i used to play around with game genie coding, and my buddies and i came up with alot of "hacks" for the snes version. colouring the "sweat" to red and playing as goro and so forth. snes rendition of the game had better graphics. thats what really made it in the end.

So you're the one who came up with the game genie codes to color the sweat green, blue, red, etc that was published in every major video game magazine at the time?

I mean in Majora's Mask. "Lulu" as she is called there. They only gave her the blue dress because too many parents complained about Ocarina of Time's content. If no parents complained, you can bet "Lulu" would be just as nude as her Ruto counterpart.

I highly, highly doubt it for some reason.
