Deleted 7 years 3 months ago Posts: 54340	dude when I was like two or three years old, gumby used to be a short that would appear in between movies on first choice. My pops always used to laugh about gumby because i would be asleep and gumby would come on at like 3 in the morning and no matter what I would freak out and come running down stairs. Problem was it was a short and it lasted like 2 minutes so when it was over i would flip out and cry and kick'n srceam and Dad would have to explain that gumby wasn't coming back on. man I can type lol (first choice was like one channel and the only pay tv movie channel my pops ever watched i have enough beta movies dubbed form that channel, they are cluttering my rec room. if anyone wants any movies from like 83-89 i've got em.) anyways.

survivor147 7 years 3 months ago Posts: 347	I LOVED Gumby. Everyday I would tape it because it came on at 2:30 and school hadn't let out yet. I always preferred the newer 80s episodes over the older ones. I always hated when they would show the Gumby with red eyes. He never talked and those episodes only consisted of him doing random things. Anyway, I wish they made more good 80s-style episodes to this day. We have to compete against this crap anime to bring the good ones home!

I was born in 1988- so I believe it was reruns on Nickelodeon when I watched the show, however the movie came out during the time I watched it! I was in 1st/2nd grade. My mom would record the reruns for me while I was in school to watch when I got home. I still have the VHS tape with some of the episodes on it. It looks like the movie has only been released on VHS and in Canada only. My favorite character was Goo! I still have the bendable plastic figures set that my mom bought for me in 1995. I actually still remember the words to the theme song: "He's here and he will be sure to stay. Gumby! Let's all see what magical games he can play. He can do most anything, with his palls Pokey, Prickle and Goo. They will walk through the wall if you want them to. When you're said, Gumby makes you glad, with all the things he can do. If he's in your heart then he'll be a part of you. If you have a heart then Gumby's the pal for you."

TimCurryChick85 7 years 3 months ago Posts: 990	I loved Gumby back in the late 80's when i was growing up (I wsa born in 1985) I used to watch it on Nick Jr. I had a couple of Gumby toys from Wendy's I think it was - Pokey and Prickle and a Blockhead. Gumby was huge when i was growing up. i miss the closing theme song from the show...still remember it after all these years.

pokinsmot 7 years 3 months ago Posts: 1187	does anyone remember the episode where they went to prehistoric times and made friends w/ a tricerotops(sp?) who was having trouble keeping her mother's eggs safe? so they built a fence around it. and then a couple of brontosauruses(sp?) came and took and and played cath w/ it. then an alligator ate gumby and the egg and spit em back out. what series was that from? the 80s or earlier? edited: i found the episode! here

Ironically, that was the '88 edition called "Gumby Adventures", which for most fans isn't the best representation of the original Gumby shorts that those of us who've seen them prior to that year remember. I can go back to when The Disney Channel and a local station used to show them when they were distributed by ZIV International. The newer series had to ADR over the original soundtracks to the shorts, removing the original voices and music that used to be heard in them in favor of newer scores that didn't fit the visuals too well.
