Sibling rivalry

I know many of you play video games (stating the obvious i know). How many of you used to be like THE BEST at st least one game, and a younger sibling, who used to suck at everything you could do, suddenly beat you at your own game!!

Now for me I had two options: one I could be the loving caring older brother who mentors his younger brother and says "good job, see I taught him everything he knows! 8) "........ OR....... I could be the jealous, angry, sore loser type of brother who harbors a secret hatred for his brothers newfound success and angrily mutters to himself ("muther f#$@ing little b@%#$*, I will crush you into the dust you filthy little maggot!!! ";).

Eventually, I chose the first (and better) option. But unfortunately, I tried to fight the shame of losing to a 12 year old who plays video games ALL DAY with his over abundance of free time, with the second option. But rather than look like a royal prick, I just stopped caring and let my llittle brother enjoy his time in the spotlight thinking "Someone else will beat him eventually (I hope)."

Any one else experience a similair strong sibling rivalry? Now this isn't limited to just video games. It could be sports or anything else.

oh man, i use to rock at mortal kombat, right? well, my nephew is the closest little brother i got, so anyways, im sittin there and hes playing the game (hes 3 BTW) and i saud, "can i play?" hes so sweet, he goes, "sure, unca jay!" so pick up the control and start playing. well, i let him win a couple times, then i said, "well ill just beat him once..." and being the mortal Kombat expert i was, i thought it would be sinch, right? as soo as i start wailing on him, he catches on and kicks the crap out of me. the next three games im actually trying to beat him and i lose.... after the first game and all through the reast, this is me ..... but, i was so proud, cuz my nephew is only 3 and hes already that good at games.

My brother & I get pretty hardcore whenever we argue. Partially because he's a queen (as am I) and we're only 2 years apart. There have been full-blown scream fests filled with a whole bunch of words that I don't think I could even post on this. Then there are the times when things start to fly, and trust me, it isn't a pretty sight. We've hit each other, and we've spit at each other. He's twisted my arm and I gave him Indian burns that stayed for a while. He even pushed me down the stairs once, but it was only like 3 steps, so I wasn't badly hurt. Weird thing is, we're pretty close. Strange right?

Actually, I do get along with him. We tell each other stuff about our lives that we normally would not share with other relatives. We also do share a room. It's just that we both like to push each other's buttons for fun. That eventually leads to the fighting. Plus, it also depends on what kind of mood I'm in or what mood he's in.

I'm an only child and it is nice, but yeah, sometimes I wish I had a brother or sister I could play with or go places with. How many siblings do you have? just the one brother?

That actually sound like me and my brother. Sometimes, we get into full blown screaming matches. Sometimes he throws things at me(Like the time he threw an oven mit, and the thumb part hit me in the eye. I cried for like, a half an hour ). But we get along so well other times.

I only have that one brother, but I grew up around a ton of cousins. My family is super close, so I guess it's like I have a whole bunch of brothers and sisters.

That's awesome. Don't you just love the family unit? No matter how much crap there is, in the end it's all love.

It depends I guess. I know in the olden days the family unit consisted of parents and thier children along with aunts, uncles; and cousins and maybe grandparents. Nowadays it just differnt. ppl still live together, but it's just not the same, IMO.

Well, family can be different things. I think although people aren't necessarily blood related, as long as they love and care for each other it's still family regardless. They may have their arguments and stuff, but it's all love in the end.

as the youngest of 3 girls, I was forced to take sides with either one...and in I always sided with my eldest sister. which eventually spiraled into rivalry between me and my other sister and led to us never truly getting along...we even went to separate high schools.
