    		 While doing research for my best 80s cartoons channel poll I came upon this great informative article that tries to explain the fallout of saturday morning cartoons. They observe every single reason possible from political to psychological. I warn ya, the ending has a sad message for us fans.

    		 Great article..I didn't realize that some of those factors actually played into the demise. Well, as they say, all good things must come to an end. At least we have some good memories. We can reminsce with our grandchildren about how cartoons were in the good old days.

    		 I blame the death of saturday morning cartoons to the popularity of cable and satelite. Why should kids be exited about saturdays when there are dozens of 24 hour kids channels on cable?

    these days there are still families who cant afford to blow their money on cable, mine being one of them; yet it completely baffles me how many poor people i know that get cable anyway

    		 I don't think I read it in the article but I've read before that a major factor was also the new Educational standards that the government passed for Children's programming in the early/mid 90s.

    It was easier for the networks just to swtich to news than try and produce shows within the guidelines.

    		 One thing that they didn't mention:

    People who grew up with Saturday morning cartoons and who still like them are being alienated. The cartoons that were on then were innocent and so much fun. Today is destroyed because of Anime. I get completely turned off when I turn on the TV only to find this anime crap on 24/7. I would like to see a regular cartoon such as Jetsons on....

    Oh, I thought I was the only one who felt this way!! I can't watch anime and I really hate how they bastardized old good cartoons buy updating them into anime crap fests.

    		 I'm not a big anime fan, but I'm not totally bashing it. I think some of the animation is really good (DBZ for example) but Saturday morning cartoons need some variety other than anime. And something unique. Like, I know CBS or NBC or one of em shows Nickelodean and ABC shows Disney...most people have Disney Channel and Nickelodean so why show shows from those channels on ABC or CBS? If people want to watch Lilo and Stich they'll turn on Disney Channel! I liked ABC back in the day b/c it was mostly shows you didnt see on Disney so it was different.
