OldNick07 5 years 9 months ago Posts: 436	I don't remember them, as I was born in 1984. But I do have a handful of VHS tapes of them, all of which are YCDTOTV recordings and one of Pinwheel. They're very interesting to watch for nostaligic reasons. Did you know Nickelodeon actually played one of them LAST YEAR during their Nick Rewind block??!! Yes, Nickelodeon and MTV both showed the Monkees. MTV was first, but Nick started running it when they reunited in 1986. I still have a tape of the MTV Monkees marathon in 1986, hosted by Mick, Dave and Pete.. Too bad I no longer have a working VCR.

Ew. I hated those shows. And haha, they are not retro at all. I'm a 90s Nick kid (born in 198, so I'm only knowledgeable about 90s Nickelodeon. I have watched some things on youtube about Nick in the 1980s and I must say that I am quite intrigued. I wish I was born a decade earlier so I could have experienced the shows. They looked very interesting. What I don't like too much are the elitist 80s Nick fans who tend to look down on the '90s kids' for liking Nick during the specific era they grew up in. We can't help it if we grew up in the 90s and experienced Nickelodeon and other shows during that era, just like it's not anyone else's fault for liking the series that came on when they were children themselves. Series that came on when people were children hold a very nostalgic view for many and some can easily become defensive when someone else bashes it. Sure, it's natural, but intolerance isn't too good. I'm not saying that 90s kids are without faults either. Many of us are extremely intolerable as well and some of us refuse to listen to the opinions of other people who grew up in a different decade. I have seen a lot of complaining from 90s kids about how 'boring' 80s television is and whatnot. They couldn't be any more wrong. :< That, of course, is just my opinion.

mlw1984 5 years 3 months ago Posts: 1648 Account Disabled	Only a few people my age knows about Nickelodeon during this era. I loved the bumpers, the shows and everything. I do see a huge difference between the 1980's Nickelodeon and the 1990's Nickelodeon but today's Nick and 1990's Nick, not so much. Don't get me wrong, I loved 1990's Nickelodeon as much as the next person here, but you can easily say that the Nicktoons caused the decline of Saturday Morning cartoons. 1980's Nick was more focused on overseas animation and education. My brothers and sisters, at one point had tapes filled with Nick stuff from the 1980's. What happened is that these girls stoled the tapes and threw them out on the beach. (yes, I live on an island). No one ever talks about this era of Nickelodeon.

JamesandRaina 5 years 2 months ago Posts: 195	I loved Nick in the late 80s. I remember watching YCDTOT (You Can't Do That ON Television) and Double Dare...and I remember at night they'd play the Monkees, Donna Reed and Patty Duke. LOL...."those were the days"!
