80s Nick

I'd say it's golden years were 84(when YCDTOTV was getting hugely popular) to roughly 98(when Rocko was cancelled.) I miss the original Double Dare, Out Of Control, and Pinwheel.

gustogummi 5 years 10 months ago Posts: 2787 Account Disabled	Well, this isn't the thread for you. I look at tributes to Nickelodeon on Youtube and nearly all of them are for 90s Nickelodeon. I'm like, where is the ones from the 1980s? I personally think that era of Nickelodeon is pretty overrated. Even more overrated than today's Nickelodeon shows. I didn't mind the Nick Jr shows, since I was way too old for them anyways and they was educational and my brother liked them, but the rest of the shows, ick! My little brother loved all of those shows, I usually leave the room when he was watching those over the shows I've recorded for him (Transformers, Silverhawks, Voltron, Robotech etc).

To me, Nickelodeon died when they switched to the current orange logo. And Nickelodeon made the summer of 1984 memorable in so many ways.

gustogummi 5 years 9 months ago Posts: 2787 Account Disabled	I remember when Danger Mouse first came to Nickelodeon. That made my summer more memorable. My family loved to watch the show with me. I don't recall the exact year they started using the orange logo, but I think it was around 1986 or so. It was alright during the first 2-3 years. I got bored with Nickelodeon when stuff like Fifteen and Hey Dude premiered. The orange era of Nickelodeon is the most talked about era though.

Strandysmommy 5 years 9 months ago Posts: 1282	I looked up "Classic Nick" on YT, and was greived to see "Keenan and Kel" "Amanda Mack" and "Hey Arnold" among the listed of "retro". All that is doing is making kids from the 90's feel old- you know? I think the old producers of Nick must be dead or something. I know it's browbeating the subject but THOSE SHOWS AIN'T RETRO!! Oh that they WOULD bring back good, wholesome (snort!) sensible programing like "Turkey TV" or even "Nick Rocks". Shucks, I remember when they'd show "The Monkees" after school when I was about 6, 7 years old. I loved it!

I was surprise to see people who claim stuff like Taina and the Brothers Garcia to be classic Nick and those shows came out in the early 2000s. I remember Nick Rocks. I don't think Nick showed the Monkees, I think it was MTV who re-ran it.

Maybe the Monkees did ran, I don't know, I'll look on the old newspaper film rolls at the library whenever I get time. I just miss the Nickelodeon from this era.
