Cable versus Satellite

foxxietrini 8 years 5 months ago Posts: 734	I have the IO digital cable and that's fine for me. I have friends who have satellite dishes that boast about all the channels they have. That's cool but when there's a thunderstorm I don't get any interruptions Am I really missing out on anything? I mean.. who has time to flip through all 3000 channels to find something to watch

Jason43 8 years 5 months ago Posts: 1799 Account Disabled	I have satelite. 200 channels of crap. I do still prefer it to cable or digital cable. It rarely goes out unless there is a mother of all storms coming through. And its not like cable ever goes out Plus, I get free Sirius with it.

shiroihikari 7 years 7 days ago Posts: 3569	I always liked Dish Network, myself. It only went out when it rained really hard, which doesn't happen very often around here lately. Of course, the cable system sucked ass at the time; there was nothing "digital" about it. They didn't even have a program guide. Really, it doesn't matter if you have cable or satellite-- TV is boring as hell.

Mad-Mike 7 years 7 days ago Posts: 1099	I don't even have a TV, I just have a VCR, a DVD-ROM and DVD-RW, and a 17" monitor with a tuner that I use for my game consoles and VCR. So for me....DSL! Until they come out with Sattelite internet, than you can reckon, I'll find a way to get an old 80486 Laptop on it!

Anyway, even though I've always had cable, I like satelite more. Hell the only choice around here is Insight cable. At least with satelitte, I can use either DirectTV or Dish Network.

I had satellite. Everytime it stormed, I'd lose signal. I prefer comcast. can't beat OnDemand.

NickMania 7 years 7 days ago Posts: 2261	I have always had Time Warner Cable and have never had any problems with it, and since I got my Cable Modem they have increased our Bandwidth 3 times since we subscribed to it in 2004 and the Service has just been Excellent! on Average when Downloading Files from High Speed Servers I Generally get a Download Speed of over 1400kbps and an Upload Speed of over 60kbps with my Cable Modem! Many People say they only get about 400kbps to 600kbps Average Download Speed and only 34kbps to 43kbps Average Upload Speed with Cable Modems.

chrisno51 7 years 7 days ago Posts: 1847	It all depends on the individual. If you're not getting the channels you want with cable then Satelite is the way to go. And you tend to get more channels for your money as well. I have Dish Network and I really like it. DirecTV is good too, but I like the remote and program guide better on Dish. I perfer satelite, but you've got to account I didn't like the cable company where I'm at. The only time I have had any real problem with Dish is when we had snow. If you are fine with cable and you're getting all the channels you like, then no I can't see where you're missing out on anything special. It may be a good idea to take a good look at one of your friends' satelite TV's and see how well you like it compared to your cable company, though that's if you haven't already.
