With his best human friend Skeeter Valentine and best non-human friend (also his dog) Porkchop, they have great adventures! Doug is secretly in love with Patti Mayonnaise but gets bullied by Roger Klotz. Sometimes Doug imagines he is Quailman, a superhero from the planet Bob to help him solve problems.

I probably liked this version a little more than the original. Don't get me wrong. The original is a classic and I watched it more than this one, but I liked the themes of this one a little better. I went to a high school that went through a huge remodeling and all I could think about and compare was this show and how everything was not completely built at BeBe Bluff Jr. High. They gang would walk into a room with no walls or ceilings and the construction worker would say, "Eh, we're working on it." I would find myself in the same situations. Classic.

Obviously Nickelodeon had the better Doug. I never saw it when it was on Disney, though. I never watched that channel as a kid for some reason.

In my personal opinion, this version of the series was just as good as the older original one. Of course the first one will always be classic.
