Wildfire

Show Summary

Aired: 1986 - 1986
Show Type: Animated
Country of Origin: US

Year ago, in a fantasy realm, a benevolent queen died shortly after giving birth to a daughter. The baby girl is taken into the real world, and left on the doorstep of a kind man, with no hint at her origin except for a purple horse medallion around her neck. Fast forward, and the young girl is on the verge of being a young lady, when her medallion begins to glow. Before she quite knew what was happening, a magnificent purple stallion leaps through a swirling portal in the air. A horse named Wildfire, who can talk, who has come back for her now that the girl, Megan, is old enough to try and reclaim the throne that is rightfully hers from a wicket aunt who has usurped it.

It is, essentially, the ultimate girl's cartoon. A young, pretty blond girl, a magical horse that can talk and fly, who is really a fairy tale princess that has to save her world from an evil witch. Unfortunately, it only lasted for 13 episodes before being canceled.

Wildfire, an animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera, aired on CBS from September 13, 1986 to September 6, 1987. The series follows the adventures of Sara, a 13-year-old girl growing up in the American West, as she discovers her true identity as a Princess in hiding.

A talking horse, Wildfire, summons Sara through her magic amulet, and transports her across dimensions to her real home in Dar-Shan. Sara joins with her friends, a sorcerer named Alvinar, a young boy named Dorin, and a cowardly colt named Brutus to battle her nemesis, the evil sorceress Diabolyn. Through her many adventures, Sara finds out what it is to be a true leader, learning responsibility, caring, and good judgment.

I agree with you On. I thought I was the only one who watched this show. I was starting to belive it was something my friends and I made up. I can see how someone might confuse Megan and Sarah. The both had the same hair style pigtales.

Man, I LOVED this show! I was SO disappointed when they took it off the air after barely a few episodes. The story was intriguing, the horses were really cool, and it was humorous. Every little girl in my school loved it! We never did understand why it got taken off the air. I still have my Wildfire lunchbox too.

I loved this show, but unfortunately it came on at something like 5:30am where I lived, so I only rarely woke up early enough to watch it. I think I may have seen just a half dozen episodes or fewer.

It has one of my favorite opening theme songs, too. It's quite poignant. How many cartoon theme songs from past and present are actually poignant?
