Chico and the Man

Show Summary

Aired: 1974 - 1978
Show Type: Live Action
Country of Origin: US

Ed Brown was a cantankerous old widower who owned and operated a small filling station in Los Angeles. He hired a fast-talking, cheery young Chicano, Chico Rodriguez, to help him run the place. Since Chico also lived in the garage, the two were always together, and when they weren't bickering between themselves, they came to a greater understanding of each other's generation and culture. They even learned to love each other. When Chico left Ed to start his own business (in actuality, actor Freddie Prinze committed suicide), Ed discovered a new "Chico"-a 12-year-old boy named Raul--and invited him to move in.

Just to hear Chico and the man's theme brought me back to a time when life was happiest for me, it was a time when things were more innocent.

We know where Freddie Prinze Jr. got his good looks.

His dad was a total babe!

I still remember when Freddie Prinze killed himself. That was a shocking, haunting memory for me.
