Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures

Show Summary

Aired: 1987 - 1988
Show Type: Animated
Country of Origin: US

Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures was a revival of the classic Terrytoons character Mighty Mouse. It was produced by the infamous maverick Ralph Bakshi (who got his start in the animation industry working at Terrytoons). Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures is considered by some to be a major truning point in the history of American animation. It was the first American animated TV series since the 1960s in which its staff was allowed to go wild. Many of its staff (including John Kricfalusi, Eddie Fitzgerald, Jim Smith, Bruce W. Timm, Jim Reardon, and others) went to work on hits including Ren & Stimpy, the Simpsons, Tiny Toon Adventures, Batman: The Animated Series, the Critic and Futurama. In the series, Mighty Mouse was given a "real" identity: Mike Mouse, who worked for the Pearl Pureheart. Mighty Mouse was also given a sidekick: Scrappy, a young orphan mouse who became good friends with Mighty Mouse. The series was packed with in-jokes and parodies and appearances by other Terrytoon characters including Gandy Goose and Sourpuss and Deputy Dawg.

CBS ran two seasons; selected episodes were replayed on Fox in the fall of 1992.

Haha, oh man. I still have an episode of this on tape somewhere...I think it's the one with alien space cats or something. My dad and I still make jokes about it from time to time.

I loved this show. To think the same guy who did this was the same guy who is responsible for Fritz the Cat LOL

Heh. I remember when you could get little suction cup toys in a kids meal at Burger King (I think). I got Bat-Bat and loved it.
