Simon And Simon

Show Summary

Aired: 1981 - 1988
Show Type: Live Action
Country of Origin: US

Gerald McRaney and Jameson Parker star as Rick and Andrew Jackson "A.J." Simon, brothers working as private detectives in San Diego. The show also stars WKRP's Tim Reid (Venus Flytrap) as police Detectove Marcel "Downtown" Brown and Mary Carver as Cecelia Simon, the mother of Rick and A.J.

Typical 80's action-detective content (lockpicking, shootouts, car chases, clever disguises), with its own quirky sense-of-humor and a slightly more family-oriented bent, focusing on the relationships between the brothers and their mother, in between nabbing bad guys.

Simon & Simon ran around the same time as Murder She Wrote and Magnum P.I. in most places and in fact, there is even a three-part crossover episode where characters from each show interacted with each other in some fashion.

So, when you're 14 and boy-crazy, do you choose the rough-edged Vietnam vet Rick, or smooth, surfer-boy cute A.J.? Sigh. Too hard to decide. Mom and I never missed "S&S." This and "Magnum" made Thursday nights the FIRST "Must-See TV."

This was an awesome show. I liked how the brothers were opposites and there was always friction between them until the guns came out. Then they were always there for each other.

Loved this one, A.J. was hot back then. Rick wasn't so bad either. Very good writing in this show, lots of good action too!
