The Rookies

Show Summary

Aired: 1972 - 1976
Show Type: Live Action
Country of Origin: US

The show was about 3 recruits fresh out of the police academy. Two of them were single and the third was married to a nurse. They had a Lt who didn't always see eye to eye with his new Rookies. The show starred Georg Stanford Brown as Terry Webster, Michael Ontkean as Willie Gillis and Sam Melville as Mike Danko. It also starred Kate Jackson as Jill Danko and Gerald S. O'Laughlin as Lt. Eddie Ryker. In 1974, Michael Ontkean was replaced by Bruce Fairbairn who portrayed Chris Owens. Although they share the same name, Bruce Fairbairn is the not same Canadian music producer who sadly passed away. This show was produced by the same people who gave us Charlies Angels, Starsky and Hutch, and S.W.A.T.

This song sounds better now that it did then. I remember the very first episode when a rookie was killed and they had a big police funeral for him. (I was like 7 or 8 years old.

I can't get offer how good this intro sounds. It makes shows today sound like utter crap. And these guys were cool. I hate the cops on tv today.
