Hello to all the Donkey Kong Fans!! I was reading all these posts, going back 2 years and was really happy to see how much some of you like the DK TV show that aired back in 98/99 - especially since you're talking about some of the episodes that "I" wrote!! Anyway - just wanted to let you know that I'm selling 29 EPISODES OF THE ORIGINAL ANIMATION VHS CGI TV SERIES ON EBAY. As a writer and story editor of the series, I was given SCREENING DUBS of all the shows by Nelvana (where I worked for 10 years) and I've had them in my library for a decade. I just burned all of them to DVD so now I'm going to sell off the original bundle and was hoping they'd go to a Donkey Kong fan - not some jerk, who buys them to rip off Donkey Kong fans. The entire load is $130.00 - which is about $4.50/episode, which I think is fair, since they are original screeners without commercials. If anyone is interested, by all means check out my ad. Now for some DK (TV series) production notes trivia:

Why were THE SONGS included? That wasn't Nelvana's idea. It was MEDIALAB (France). The French wanted song sequences. WHY I DO NOT KNOW! I thought it was bizarre. But...to the songwriter's credit, they wrote some pretty funny lyrics. It was two guys (Pure West) that wrote all the songs and the opening theme song for DK. They were pretty brilliant.

HOW PROPERTY WAS ACQUIRED BY NELVANA:

Medialab owned the property (optioned from Nintendo) and had 13 episodes written (that were HORRENDOUS - with racist/sexist jokes and just sooo bad for a kiddie show.) They fired the original writers and asked Nelvana to repair what had been done. Since almost 10 storyboards were already conceived from the 10 horrible scripts, Nelvana was forced to use them - to save some money. So new stories were written based around the drawings/storyboards. No easy task! One of the freelance writers took on that task of the 10 script rewrite while I wrote the new stories for the rest of Season One. Then I wrote and scripted and Assisted with Story Editing for Season Two. Then a year went by, the option lapsed with Medialab - so Nelvana picked up the rights and FOX ordered another 13 episodes, which I wrote 3 more episodes. My fave episode is "MONKEY SEER MONKEY DO!" I loved writing Funky's dialogue. He was my favourite character. I have to say, I really hated Candy - just looking at her weird design made me cringe. She looked like a burn victim. King Krool was fun to write for too, and of course General Klump. (My favorite episode with Klump is the Kongo Bongo Festival of Lights - I wanted to write it as a Christmas special - and include Pirate Scurvy - who was another fave char. of mine.) I wish someone would bring this show back. I'd love to write more... it was one of my favourite writing gigs. :)

I kind of remeber that show. I remeber it was one of those shows i watched when nothing else was on. heh.

As a huge DKC fan I tried watching this show whenever I could, but now I look back and regret it... The show was weak, certainly it's not the worst thing that's happened to DK, but we could've done without all that singing and body movement.
