Show Summary

Show Type: Animated
Country of Origin: US

"Sugar. Spice. And everything Nice. These were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect little girls. But Professor Utonium accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction... Chemical X. Thus the Powerpuff Girls were born! Using their ultra-superpowers, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup have dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil."

Created by Craig McCracken: The Powerpuff Girls (originally conceived as the Whoopass Girls) were conceived as a send up to various pop culture icons: Hanna Barbera cartoons, japanese anime, science fiction adventure, campy comic supervillains, etc. Very little is spared as parody material, and there are many layers to this program, for both young children, and adults. The high action content might be unsuitable for pre-schoolers, but the show is designed to appeal to a wide audience. Now,having an anime adaptation called "the Powerpuff Girls Z" although it is uncertain it will ever come to America. In its early stages the Powerpuff Girls Were only a short featured in the 90's show "What a Cartoon!" with different a different model style; skinner arms and legs and wierder eyes. It eventually worked its way up to be a full cartoon in November 1998.

I love the Powerpuff Girls! Let's see... I had a backpack, slippers, a Blossom doll, a book or two, and I got one of those balloon toy-thingies of Bubbles at a carnival.

I loved this show, lol. It must have been too violent for kids though for it to be taken off. After this show, Craig moved on and made Samurai Jack, which was a HUGE success and a GREAT show. He then went on to make Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, which was another success that isn't being made anymore. The day where the last 10 episodes were shown was really enjoyable and none of them were disappointing. Hope the creator makes some more shows for Cartoon Network. Sometimes the Powerpuff Girls is on the DirecTV channel, Boomerang.
