The Love Boat

Show Summary

Aired: 1977 - 1986
Show Type: Live Action
Country of Origin: US

The Love Boat was set aboard the Pacific Princess and embarked each week on a romantic and sometimes comical journey across the tropics. The show consisted of several storylines and interweaved them with the lives of the ships crew. Every episode featured a different cruise and a separate set of passengers and their stories. The show was filmed on real cruise ships, The Pacific Princess and the Island Princess, during regular voyages. Paying passengers were often used as extras. The lure of exotic locations and the shows ratings enticed many television and movie stars to appear in guest roles throughout the stay of the show. The Love Boat aired from September 1977 until September 1986 with a total of 255 episodes. In April 1998 the show returned to the air this time as Love Boat: The Next Wave, but ended short in 1999 with only 25 episodes.

Are you referring to the syndication prints from the early 1980s? Those were still the prints used to this day.

The video clips (under 'Show Intros' above) are NOT the original "The Love Boat." They are from "Love Boat: The Next Wave" - an entirely different show.
