The Muppet Show

Show Summary

Aired: 1976 - 1981
Show Type: Live Action
Country of Origin: US

The Muppet Show depicted a song-and-dance variety show, as well as the backstage antics involved in putting the show on. Most of the shows revolved around Kermit The Frog trying to keep control of the varied, outrageous, kinetic Muppet characters, as well as keep the human guest stars happy and secure. The show was well known for outrageous, highly physical and sometimes absurd comedy and parodies. Many major celebrities were eager to perform with the Muppets on television and in film. Each show featured a human guest star such as Steve Martin, Mark Hamill, Elton John, Brooke Shields, and John Cleese. It ran on Nickelodeon in 1994.

I thought it would never happen, but The Muppets had a special on Disney Channel called Studio DC Almost Live which has The Muppets. Here is a clip of the Electric Mayham with today's pop-singer Miley Cyrus a.k.a. Hanna Montana. I don't know if this was just a one time only TV special or if it's a new TV show that really took off. Here is a clip of Studio DC Almost Live.

Hopefully, this would create a modern day Muppets variety show.
