This minni series of children's tv specials made it's debut
in the fall of 1961.
Featuring an eclectic mixture of programs.."The NBC Children's
Theater"would showcase children's stories,plays,social dramas,
and even fantasy.
Created and produce by NBC TV's brilliant head of children's
programming Mr.George Heineman..the series won two
prime time emmys(Shari Lewis' "A Portray Of Us"a child's look
into the US Census program was the recipreiant of the second
prime time emmy)and the show was lauded by parents,tv critics,
educators and kids alike.
Many well known performers..Win Strake,Bill Cosby,
Fran Allison,Burr Tillstrom's"KulaPollitian Player Puppets",
Arnold Stang,The Ritts Puppets and Johnny Carson would
appear in many installments of the series.
"The NBC Children's Theater"remained on the air..until
it was cancelled in 1974.

local WNBT/WRCA/WNBC TV Ch.4 NYC children's variety tv
show:"Children's Theater!"hosted by Mr.Ray Forrest and seen
Saturday mornings on Ch.4 in NYC from 1949 to 1961.
