The Jetsons

Show Summary

Aired: 1962 - 1987
Show Type: Animated
Country of Origin: US

In the 60s, the vision of the future was trippy clothes, flying cars, and more robotic appliances than Bill Gates' house. In the end, none of this came true, but the idea that all these things could make life better was quickly put to rest by anyone who watched the series.

George Jetson works at Spacely Sprockets, the corporation that pays him a daily salary for merely pushing a button, and heaven help George if he's late by one nano-second. At home, Jane Jetson is a homemaker; meaning she makes sure all the machines are doing their chores. Elroy and Judy Jetson are the couples children, Elroy a rambunxious junior inventor, and Judy the steroetypical rebellious teen. The head robot is Rosie, the maid, who often does her job with a little more wit and sarcasm than George wishes, but she's a cherished member of the family nonetheless.

When's all said and done, the Jetson's ups and downs are pretty much the same as our own.

I never really cared for The Jetsons that much, but I did love The Flinstones/Jetsons cross-promotional movie.

WHEN I WAS KID I THOUGHT BY YEAR 2000 WE WERE GOING TO LIVE JUST LIKE THEM. WELL I WAS SADDLY DISSAPOINTED. WE STILL DONT HAVE MACHINES THAT FIX OUR HAIR,AND A ROBOT THAT DOES EVERYTHING, NOR FLYING CARS.

I have watched The Jetsons since I was little. It's really stupid when Mr. Spacely tells George that he's fired then later he tells George that he is hired again.

I loved the Jetsons when I was a kid and I love em even more now... I think it's hilarious to see what people back then guessed the future would be like...JeNMidori I think we are closer to living like the Jetsons than your comment suggests...Granted we don't yet have flying cars or housekeeper robots but we do have visiphones (computers with webcams are close enough) and those elevators some places have with transparent walls are sort of like their transportation tubes...I can't wait til someone invents one of those anti-gravity belts.

When I hear the theme song I get tears in my eyes...
