Show Summary

Aired: 1987 - 1991
Show Type: Live Action
Country of Origin: US

From what I can remember, it aired during the mid 80's ( I think from 1986- maybe '87 or '88) on Sunday mornings before the Cartoon Express, on the USA Network. D J Kat was this cat puppet who wore a black leather jacket, had a female( human) co-host, and introduced cartoons. While showing one episode of popeye every show, he introduced every cartoon as "Popeye". He occasionally had special guests on his show, such as wrestler Jake "The Snake" Roberts

Edit: the female co-host was the dutch Linda de Mol.
It was also shown on a UK sat channel in the early 90`s. Mon-fri from 3.45pm-5pm. Which hosted a call in game called Kat's Alley.

This seies actually began as an American kids comedy tv series on

WNYW TV Ch.5 in NYC(Formerly WABD TV Ch.5 Dumount and WNEW TV

Ch.5 Metromedia TV)in October,1987.

Set against the backdrop of a makeshift clubhouse in the basement of

an inner city apartment building.

The series focused on the misadventures of a wisecracking alley

cat puppet"DJ Kat" and his comedy asistant:Elizabeth Rose.

Along with the comedy skits..the pair read viewers mail and

introduced reruns of old MGM Harmon/Issling/Tex Avery Movie

cartoons.

Jim Martin was the series first puppeteer..he would leave the

series after working on the program briefly.

(Elizabeth Rose would also departure from the show)

Craig Marin and "Jennifer Davis"(played by actress Carmen De

LaPaz)would become the series second and last puppeteer and comedy

asistant.

The cartoon reruns were dropped to give more time to comedy

skits, reading viewers mail and playing games with kids in the studio.

Marin and De La Paz would also play other characters on the show.

(Marin would also use his own puppet characters:"Mr.Midas G.Merkle",

"Baby Mouth","Poopsey The Dog","Mr.Chimps",etc on the program)

"The DJ Kat Show"would move to Sunday mornings..where it remained

on the air..until Sunday December 24,1989.

"DJ"would mc "The Fox Five Kids Club"weekday afternoons on

WNYW TV Ch.5 in NYC Beginning on Monday December 25,1989.

The puppet would perform comedy skits, read viewers mail

and engage his viewers in toy give aways inbetween the reruns

of"The Dick Tracy","Alvin & The Chipmunks" and"Woody Woodpecker"

cartoons.

"The Fox Five Kids Club"would also be the first NYC based kids

tv program to air "The Super Mario Brothers Super Show"tv cartoons.

"DJ" and his puppet friends would continue to mc"The Fox Five Kids

Club"..until the series finally went off the air on Friday March 15,1991.

DJ Kat also had it's own UK TV version on Sky One which featured Power Rangers "the good old originals not the crappy ones" and The Simpsons.

Damn, why is there no edit button on this shit? I have more to say.

The UK version started after the US version finished in 1991.
