That's just an example of a chain, on the game show Chain Reaction. It's a game show where two teams of three (two celebrities & one contestant) competed to connect series of words that make up a word chain. Each correct word earned points according to how many letters in that guessed word. The first team to reach 50 points, goes on to the bonus game for $10,000.
Bill Cullen hosted the show on NBC in 1980. It was cancelled that same year, but returned in 1986 with an altered format & teams, and new host Blake Emmons, whom would later be replaced by Geoff Edwards (Geoff was a sub-host in the original).
