A rather short-lived and discontinued anime adaptation of the Kentarou Miura Manga of the same name.
The anime only covered a portion of the series and most of the first arc. The storyline of the First Arc was kept mostly intact (aside from some differences). Despite the limitations it is often deemed a bit of a fan favorite amongst anime viewers as its a fairly well known example of Seinen anime. (Though not as known as the likes of Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell obviously.)
It also had 2 Video game adaptations namely Eidos/ASCII's Sword of the Berserk Gut's Rage for the Dreamcast and Sammy's PS2 game. (Though oddly enough even though it predates the anime's official english release by 2 years. The Dreamcast game was released in the US early 2000 by Eidos Interactive.)
