Freddy's Nightmares

Show Summary

Aired: 1988 - 1990
Show Type: Live Action
Country of Origin: US

One of the most unforgettable anti-heroes from the “decade of bad taste” plays a kind of unconvincing Alfred Hitchcock as he introduces “his” worst nightmares to our very living rooms…or computers nowadays. The show’s episodes were around an hour and, most of the time, featured a two-tier story. After an introduction by Kruger, for example, you might see a degenerate son fear the arrival of his father who’s just escaped from prison, then after a subtle bridge narration, that very son could be father himself who unknowingly adopts a child from hell…literally. Several fictional characters made more than one appearance throughout the life of the program. This show also opened the door for several “unknown-at-the-time” actors and actresses, like Brad Pitt.

I was allowed to watch Freddy's Nightmares only because after it was over NWA Wrestling came on. Good times I tell ya.

This show was either on late, or on a strange channel, as I always remember wanting to see it whenever it was advertised, but never caught it more than once, or twice. I found some episodes online, and they are just so bizzare they are an awesome bit of 80's nostalgia. Quite creepy for television, also. I've never seen anything quite like it.

This show was awesome and the series SHOULD have been included in the Nightmare Box set... with all the movies. I remember this show was similar to "Tales from the Crypt" But hosted by Freddy instead of the Krypt Keeper.
