Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids

Show Summary

Aired: 1973 - 1974
Show Type: Animated
Country of Origin: US

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids was a Saturday morning cartoon produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1973 for NBC. Very similar to both Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! and Josie and the Pussycats, the show depicted the adventures of a team of teenage intelligence agents (Butch, Merilee, Stephanie, Harvey, and Harvey's dog Elvis) who, working undercover as a rock band called "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kids", solved mysteries and apprehended criminals. The teens were advised by a supercomputer named "Mr. Socrates".

The title is a play on the 1969 Western film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, which otherwise is not connected to the series.

Micky Dolenz, formerly the drummer and most commonly-used singer of the group The Monkees, provided the voice of Harvey.

Butch and friends all guest-starred as members of Pod Six in the Adult Swim animated television series Sealab 2021.
