The Hot Fudge Show

Show Summary

Aired: 1975 - 1986
Show Type: Live Action
Country of Origin: US

The Hot Fudge Show was an educational program produced in Detroit from 1976 through 1980 and was syndicated. It was basically Laugh In for kids with skits, music and colorful sets, people, puppets and clothing. It was hugly popular in the south eastern part of Michigan, in northwest Ohio and in southwest Canada where it could be picked up by air in locals near Detroit. The best way to describe it would be to say that if The Muppet Show and Laugh In were male and female who had a baby that baby would have been The Hot fudge Show. Sadly there is little written about and there is no merchandise out there available that i know of beyiond a CD of songs from the show available on E-Bay. There some information available if one were to seek it out carefully. It's worth looking into. If you like H&R Puff N Stuff and The Muppet Show then you'd like this just as much.

"Laugh-In for kids"? Well, yes, perhaps for the whole psychedelic theme of the show (although I believe that honor should go to "The Great Space Coaster", but not solely for the fact that they use a laugh track). I loved watching this show. I especially remember some of the intros to the regular features like "Wholly Moley" and "Seymour", and how they end each show with a song. Since you bring up the Muppet Show, in some way, Seymour reminded me of Dr. Teeth, the "frontmuppet" of The Electric Mayhem.

Btw, this show was also syndicated for broadcast on New York's ABC affiliate (WABC) in the late 70's, when I watched it back in the day. It was the program that was scheduled as the lead-in to ABC's Saturday morning programming.
