The Funky Phantom was a Saturday morning cartoon, produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1971 for ABC. Similar to Hanna-Barbera's successful Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, The Funky Phantom featured three teenagers; Skip (voiced by Micky Dolenz), April (Kristina Holland), Augie (Tommy Cook) and their dog Elmo. These four living beings solved spooky mysteries with two ghostly companions, a Revolutionary War-era ghost named Jonathan Wellington "Mudsy" Muddlemore (with Daws Butler referencing his Snagglepuss voice for Mudsy) and his cat, Boo. The characters allegedly died in hiding from the British during the Revolutionary War, only to come out later. The animation was produced for Hanna-Barbera by Australian studio Air Programs International.
