Aired: 1986 - 1986 Show Type: Animated Country of Origin: US
Follows the live action TV show. She has a magical
friend named Glomer, who was stranded after leaving his village behind a rainbow after it disappeared.
The show featured the voices of the main cast, including Soleil Moon-Frye as Punky, George Gaynes as Henry, her surrogate father, Cherie Johnson as Cherie, Ami Foster as Margeaux and Casey Ellison as Allen.
Glomer was kept hidden from Henry, often in a baby carriage complete with bonnet posing as a toy. Punky's friends however would traverse around Chicago (where the show was set) and through Glomer's magical powers could transport themselves to faraway lands, like jungles or the desert. Glomer essentially had te power of a genie, though no limit on requests applied by the gang. He could fulfill dreams in a flash, as in the case of Allen becoming a star quarterback fot the Chicago Bears, but quickly learning he'd be steamrolled given his size.
Moral lessons were gently administered, never beating kids over the head.
