Doctor Who

Show Summary

Aired: 1963 - Unknown
Show Type: Live Action
Country of Origin: UK

From the planet of Gallifrey comes a mysterious man only known as "the Doctor". The show began with the idea of an educational program focusing on history but it ended up being the longest science fiction tv show in history.
The Doctor travels in a Time/Space machine called the TARDIS, an acronym that stands for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space; the machine would normall appear like a plain smooth box but wit hthe use of it's chamaleon circuit to blend into it's surroundings where it lands (anywhere in time or space) the Doctor's TARDIS is stuck like a 60's Police Box.
Through his travels he's battled Daleks, Cybermen, Autons and the Nestene Consciousness, a planet of Spiders, historical figures, Slitheen and even a megalomaniac computer who took on his likeness during his 4th life. Hundreds of baddies make up the list he's gone up against.
There have been 10 Doctors....the genius idea of the Doctor dying and regenerating enabled he show to be on so long. The 10th Doctor is currently filming and is played by David Tennant.

The original run was frm 1963 to 1989 then it returned for 2004 with a bigger budget and a new actor, Christopher Eccleston, as the 9th incarnation of the Doctor.
Along his travels he picks up friends, "companions" as fans call them; they act as the in between to ask the questions so the viewer understand what sort of technobabble the Doctor's going on about.

Certain pbs affiliates have picked up the new series as well, which is great news for those fans without sci-fi channel.

I remember watching Tom Baker as Dr Who in the basement of my grand mother's house with my two uncles. Good times.

This show difine so much for me growning up. I loved this show from the start. Regardless that it was on channel 12 in my area, that channel only being the bane of kids of my era as the education channel. I understood the show and everything that was said on. At the young age of 9. I do not care much for the new stuff out but it does get the juices flowing to see the old stuff again. Nevertheless, the best and greatest Doctor is the 4th, Tom Baker, never has there been a better one. Period!!! Until next time, Jelly Babies for all.

They did the right thing to get rid of Christoper Eccleston on the show. I mean is that he was making it look like a comady show. The new doctor is better.
