Aaron(Merlin Olsen) *better known as Johnathan Garvey on Little House on the Prairie, is an Amish man who is trying carve out a life for him and his family in the 20th century. Being surrounded by all sorts of modern day problems, he tries to use his strength and faith in God to overcome them. Without violating the sanctity of the Amish Faith. The show starts with the death of Aaron's eldest son who drowns while surfing. This leaves his girlfriend, who is pregnant with his son, to raise his son with her mother. Aaron's family moves in with them on their ranch and the two families begin to influence each others lives growing into a single family group over time.
