Kids WB

Show Summary

Aired: 1995 - 2008
Show Type: Animated
Country of Origin: US

Kids' WB! is a children's block of The CW that started in 1995. It was originally the block of The WB Network until they merged with UPN in 2006. It was known to be the home of Pinky & The Brain, Pokemon and more.

Kids' WB debuted on Saturday, September 9, 1995, airing on Saturday mornings from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. ET and weekday afternoons from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

On September 3, 2001, Kids' WB ceased airing weekday morning programming, and gave that slot to the local affiliates. On January 2, 2006 the whole weekday block of Kids' WB was replaced, but the weekday-afternoon block got replaced by the new Daytime WB block. As a result, the Saturday morning block got an extra hour on January 7, 2006, and started to run from 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., no longer affected by time zone "at the request of the local affiliates".

On September 23, 2006 Kids' WB! premiered on The CW.

On October 2, 2007, the network announced that it was ending the Kids' WB block due to the effects of children's advertising limits and cable competition, as of September 2008, in a joint decision between Warner Bros. and CBS, parent companies of The CW. At that time, the programming time will be sold to 4Kids TV. With this deal, in the 2008-2009 season, 4Kids will run two different Saturday morning blocks; their new 4Kids Entertainment block on Fox, and The CW's children's programming block.

Jetix has reruns of shows that used to air on the Fox Kids network like Spider-Man, X-Men, Batman: The Animated Series, and classic Power Rangers leading up to Power Rangers: S.P.D.

Problem is that the Jetix here in America no longer airs reruns of Batman: The Animated Series, or the classic Power Rangers except for reruns of S.P.D. which is lame!

And all the fans of Spider-Man can breathe a sigh of relief and rejoice, because The Spectacular Spider-Man still has 2 seasons left before the cartoon ends.

I'm gonna miss all those Kids WB cartoons, what was left of Animaniacs, reruns of Batman: The Animated Series, The new Batman/Superman Adventures, Batman Beyond, Pinky & the Brain, Earthworm Jim, Bugs N' Daffy, The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries, Superman: The Animated Series, Freakazoid, Men in Black: The Series, and most of all, the original Pokemon anime which ran from 1999 to 2006!

This was one of the greatest things from my childhood. I'll never forget those amazing Saturdays...They relaunched the network in the form of a website now. It's not the same but it is better than nothing. R.I.P. Kids' WB!

Actually KidsWB later relaunched as an online network centered at kids, with some older shows, like smurfs, and plenty of its newer properties
4kidstv (aka foxbox) was closed, and fox replaced it with a marketing time slot, as far as I know,
and cw4kids is still on.
Pokemon was censored far before cw4kids,
do you not remember the whole polygon episode, that they didn't show because of seizures in japan induced by rocket effects flashing red and blue, or something like that but there also was the episode that explains how ash got a bunch of Tauros, which they never showed, due to some old guy using a shotgun in the episode.

so more like
RIP 4kidstv (the sister 4kids channel, and the original 4kids channel that replaced foxkids)
RIP fox kids
Rip UPN kids (which disney killed) (UPN was later merged into wb, which is the reason for the cw, and most of the upn stations are now known as mynetworktv, which does not have a childrens slot as far as I know)
