Star Trek: The Next Generation

Show Summary

Aired: 1987 - 1994
Show Type: Live Action
Country of Origin: US

Set in the 24th century and 78 years after the adventures of the original crew of the starship Enterprise, this new series is the long awaited successor to the original Star Trek series from the 1960's. Under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard the all new Enterprise NCC 1701-D travels out to distant planets to seek out new life and to boldly go where no one has gone before. A great deal more could be done with the show as a result of advances in special effects, such as the addition of the Holodeck, as well as the reality-warping character Q. Stories ranged from debates on the meaning of life and culture, to long running political plots, to thrilling battles, to intense melodramas.

This is definitely one of my all time favorite shows, if not my favorite. Even people who aren't into sci-fi would enjoy it, because the themes and messages are just so universal, and every episode is clever enough that you just can't help but love it. In fact, I think it's impossible to not like this show.
