Born on June 1, 1974 Alanis Nadine Morissette is the youngest of 3 children. She has 2 brothers her twin brother Wade, who is 12 minutes older than she is, and her older brother Chad.
Alanis's most famous role is on the television kids sketch show You Can't Do That On Television where she made herself known as an actress. She left YCDTOTV to pursue a musical career. She signed on to MCA records under her first name Alanis. She had a hit song with her first single Too Hot but she was never happy with her work because she was afraid to tell the truth about what she was feeling.
After a successful run as a teen pop artist she left the MCA label and headed first to Toronto and then to Los Angeles where she signed with Madonna's Maverick Label. She met producer Glenn Ballard and she released the CD Jagged Little Pill which spawned several hit singles including: You Oughta Know, You Learn, Ironic, and Hand In My Pocket. Alanis received a handful of Grammys, a Juno, the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy, and tonnes of other awards.
After she toured non-stop for a year Alanis decided to travel to India to "find herself." This trip to find herself eventually spawned the album Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie which also received numerous accolades.
Alanis other successful albums include Under Rug Swept, and the release of Jagged Little Pill Acoustic, to mark the 10th anniversary of the original JLP CD.
In 2008, Alanis released another studio album, "Flavors of Entanglement," in a two-disc special edition.
