 Born on November 23 1959, London, England,UK. Maxwell Caulfield began his film career in a big way. He was chosen from among thousands of applicants to appear as Michael Carrington in the sequel to the most successful musical film of all time. Both he and his co-star, a fresh-faced young newcomer named Michelle Pfeiffer, were hailed as "The Next Overnight Sensations" and Grease 2 was going to make him a star.
However,the film was a critical and commercial disaster, and his career was seriously affected. Despite a first-rate performance in the gritty and disturbing The Boys Next Door 85'' and a convincing turn in the award-winning TV movie The Parade 84'', Caulfield's only widely seen role in the 80s was his inspired portrayal of bad boy Miles Colby in the soaps "Dynasty" 81'' and "The Colbys" 85''. Since then he has appeared in a number of uninspired B-movies and direct-to-video schlock.
However, it was his stage work that allowed him to demonstrate his range as an actor. He won rave reviews for his roles on Broadway in such productions as "Entertaining Mr. Sloane" and "An Inspector Calls". He also headlined the off-Broadway smash "My Night With Reg". Those performances, along with his widely cherished turn as sleazy pop star Rex Manning in the film Empire Records 95,led to his winning the prize role of Bob in Tom DiCillo's The Real Blonde (1997) opposite such luminaries as Matthew Modine, Kathleen Turner, Steve Buscemi, Daryl Hannah and Elizabeth Berkley.
He is married to Juliet Mills (18 years his senior), whom he met while starring in "The Elephant Man" on Broadway in 1980. Spouse is Juliet Mills. His brother, musician Marcus Maclaine, was romantically linked to Hayley Mills, sister of Maxwell's wife Juliet Mills. Listed as one of twelve "Promising New Actors of 85" in John Willis' Screen World, Vol. 37. Stepfather of actress Melissa Caulfield. Started out as a "Go Go" dancer in clubs. Initially made a name for himself by his totally nude appearances on the New York stage.
He once played completely uncovered for forty minutes with Academy Award winning actress Jessica Tandy.There is an eighteen year age difference between Caulfield and his wife, Juliet Mills, who was born in 1941. His U.S. stepfather was a Parris Island Marine instructor.
He kicked Maxwell out of the house at the age of 15, leaving the young man to make his living on his own. Step-father of Sean Alquist (wife Juliet Mills's son from a former marriage). Has thus far worked with Kung Fu actor David Carradine three times, in Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat 90'', Waxwork II: Lost in Time (1992) and Animal Instincts (1992).
Uncle of Crispian Mills, the lead singer of indie band Kula Shaker and son of Hayley Mills. Has starred in two movies with Christopher McDonald, Grease 2 (1982) and The Boys Next Door (1985). He starred alongside both Charlie Sheen in The Boys Next Door (1985) and Martin Sheen in Gettysburg 93''.
