Biography
Best known for originating the roles of Raoul in the Los Angeles production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (opposite Michael Crawford and Robert Guillaume) and Marius in the Los Angeles production of LES MISERABLES for which he won Best Supporting Actor, DramaLogue and Robbie Awards. He also won a DramaLogue Award and a Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle nomination for his role in the San Francisco production of IRVING BERLIN: IN REVUE. Other theatrical credits include Bobby Child in CRAZY FOR YOU, which also gave Reece and Ovation Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical; Billy Crocker in ANYTHING GOES, Adam/Noah in the world premier of the Steven Schwartz/John Caird musical, CHILDREN OF EDEN (Robbie Award nomination); George Baily in the world premier of the musical version of ITâS A WONDERFUL LIFE; Billy Lawlor in 42ND STREET (opposite Mariette Hartley); The Scarecrow in THE WIZARD OF OZ (opposite Cathy Rigby â DramaLogue Award); Don Lockwood in SINGINâ IN THE RAIN; and Curly in OKLAHOMA. Among his many other credits are the Los Angeles companies of CATS and LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, and the national tours of THEYâRE PLAYING OUR SONG (with Susan Anton) and HELLO, DOLLY! (co-starring as Barnaby opposite Carol Channing).
On television, Reece performed in 100 episodes as The March Hare in the syndicated Disney television series âAdventures in Wonderland.â Other TV appearances range from âThe 25th Anniversary of the Music Centerâ and âThe National Easter Seal Telethonâ to series guest spots including âNYPD Blue.â
As a special guest star with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, he performed in two consecutive seasons at the famed Hollywood Bowl and twice in their celebrated Japan tours. Other concert appearances throughout the country include the award winning tribute RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN WITH HART and THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER. He can be heard in the feature film and soundtracks of âPocahontas II,â âHercules,â âAladdin,â and âA Goofy Movieâ as well as TNTâs âIn Search of Dr. Seuss.â Other recordings include his performance on âLes Miserables, the Complete Symphonic Recording,â âLost in Boston IV,â and two albums celebrating the music of Steven Sondheim and Jerry Herman which are currently being sold for the Yamaha Disclavier.
